Media Accreditation

The 2019 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival presented by Bank of Melbourne will take place from 8 to 24 March. The MFWF team welcomes media to join us for the experience and discover stories and secrets unique to Victoria’s food and wine industry.

Every year the MFWF PR team purchases a small number of tickets to assist in its media relations efforts.

MFWF is now taking expressions of interest for media to cover and attend:

  • Regional World’s Longest Lunches
  • Theatre of Ideas
  • Wine Weekend
  • River Graze 
  • City Cellar
  • Crawl ‘n’ Bite supported by Victoria Harbour

In addition, the Festival proudly collaborates with industry who dream up their own events as part of the Festival. While the MFWF team is happy to facilitate an introduction with an event organiser, FOC tickets will be at the discretion of the individual event organiser.

How do I apply?

Register your interest, providing:

  • Publication
  • Topics/themes of interest plus any specific chefs, winemakers and presenters
  • Events and sessions you’d like to attend and your availabilities
  • Proposed story / angle and estimated publish date

Please note that we have limited tickets available and approval is based on publication and level of proposed coverage.


Frequently asked questions

Does media accreditation give me access to all Festival events?

Media accreditation only provides you access to specific event/s – we don’t supply an all access areas media pass for all events due to the number of event organisers involved.

When will I know if I’ve been accredited?

We will endeavour to notify all media who have sent expressions of interest in February 2018.

Attendance at industry managed events is subject to the approval of the individual event organiser or venue. Approaches will be made on a case-by-case basis.

What is the process for accrediting international media?

We work closely with Tourism Victoria to support a limited number of media attending the Festival as part of our official Visiting Journalist Program. If you are interested in covering the Festival please get in touch and we’ll start the conversation.

How do I arrange interviews with chefs, winemakers and/or event operators involved in the Festival?

 Contact the Festival’s Marketing team who can facilitate interviews or put you touch directly.

Will I have access to official Festival imagery?

The Festival captures a range of photography at core Festival events including World’s Longest Lunches, Theater of Ideas and a select number of industry events in Melbourne and regional Victoria.

MFWF’s PR team can provide access to this high-res photography on request. Images are usually available within 24-48 hours following the event.

Can I bring a photographer/videographer to Festival events?

If you are accredited to a Festival event and would like to bring a photographer on the day, please contact the Festival’s PR team so they can make appropriate arrangements with the venue / event organiser and also supply you with a photography media pass. Access can vary depending on the nature of the event.
