Melbourne's dining experience both in and out of the home has never offered more diverse possibilities than today. Tony Tan, the Festival's Creative Director - Cultural, will lead a panel of renowned Melbourne culinary identities to discuss the evolution of two Melbourne obsessions: food and shopping, explored in the State Library's new exhibition, 'til you drop: shopping - a Melbourne history.
Panellists will include restaurateur Patricia O'Donnell (granddaughter of Mario Vigano, founder of the legendary Mario's); chef and restaurateur Guy Grossi, and culinary historian Charmaine O'Brien, author of the book Flavours of Melbourne.
This event is associated with the exhibition `til you drop: shopping - a Melbourne history. This free exhibition celebrates Melbourne's passion for shopping from the Paris end to the corner store. It explores Melbourne's social history by revealing our shopping habits from early settlement to today, highlighting our changing lifestyles, tastes and desires.
