2017 MFWF River Graze (4)

Kicking off the 25th Melbourne Food and Wine Festival presented by Bank of Melbourne’s (MFWF) opening weekend, River Graze presented by Melbourne Water will see the banks of the Yarra River transformed into a food and wine lover’s playground, bursting with culinary hot-spots, free entertainment and regional flavours.

River Graze will feature more than 60 stallholders, food trucks, producers and Victorian wineries stretched over a kilometre, from Federation Square to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Staged along the banks of the Yarra River, River Graze celebrates the role Melbourne’s water plays in the city’s thriving food culture, with the fun spilling onto the river itself.

MFWF, in partnership with Melbourne Water, will be presenting the world’s largest floating fruit bowl, highlighting how water is the secret ingredient to Melbourne’s culinary successes with fruit stickers showing what percentage each item is made up of Melbourne water.

“Water is in all the great produce we eat, drink and grow, and River Graze is a perfect opportunity soak up the Festival atmosphere while celebrating the role the Yarra River plays in Melbourne’s thriving food culture,” MFWF CEO, Natalie O’Brien said.

“It also creates a fantastic space for Melburnians to meet and enjoy events like the MFWF, right in the heart of our great city.”

Further down the river, dessert-lovers can indulge at Sweet Alley with a KoKo Black Chocolate Experience featuring hot chocolates and iced coffees, plus baked treats including hot cross buns from Rustica, 7 Apples Gelato and St Jerry’s Doughnuts.
