Melbourne Food & Wine

Event Planning Tools

The documents and checklists below have been designed to assist with various facets of event planning for Melbourne Food and Wine Festival events.

Permits and Licenses

For events held in public spaces, it is often necessary to obtain permits from local council. If alcohol is to be served, a liquor license may also be required. Due to a number of recent changes to liquor licensing requirements, we strongly recommend that event organisers contact Responsible Alcohol Victoria to discuss any potential permits your event may require.

Please note that requests can take up to three months to process, so ensure you allow ample time for your application to be processed prior to your event.

Inclement Weather

Severe weather patterns are becoming a regular feature of the Victorian landscape and should always be taken into consideration when planning an event, particularly in regional parts of the state.

For up-to-date weather warnings and forecasts, please visit the Bureau of Meteorology website.

For information relating to fire ban restrictions, total fire ban days, fire ban regions as well as any current fire warnings, please refer to the Country Fire Authority website.

For information on current emergency situations, evacuations and assistance activities please visit the Victorian State Emergency Services website.

I really, really loved Melbourne. I was very amazed by the quality of the everyday eateries. The markets and the quality of the produce. Great coffee. I really enjoyed it.
