What is Put Victoria On Your Table?
It's time to get involved and Put Victoria on Your Table
Did you know Victoria’s dairy industry accounts for more than 65% (5.8 billion litres!) of annual national milk production*? Or that Victoria is currently Australia’s largest lamb producing state?
* Department of Primary Industries, "Dairy Industry Profile," Department of Primary Industries, 2012.
Everything you need to create an incredible meal can be found right here in Victoria, with a bountiful supply of delicious fresh produce and exceptional wines grown, harvested or made within a few hours of wherever you are in Victoria.
Put Victoria on Your Table (PVOYT) is a call to action for consumers and industry alike to connect with local makers, growers, manufacturers and producers and to contribute to the ongoing growth of Victoria’s food and wine industry.
PVOYT holds two themed seasonal campaigns each year – The Roast Collection in June and The Spring Graze in September – with the 'Put Victoria on Your Table' message also heavily celebrated and profiled throughout the Festival in March. Participation is subject to Melbourne Food and Wine approval.
Help us shape the future of this Victorian initiative
We invite your business to participate in an important survey to ascertain the value of promoting Victorian food and wine. The survey will take less than five minutes of your time and all participants will go in the draw to win one of five double passes to Chef Jam supported by HOSTPLUS, as part of Festival 2014 (industry only event).
Fill out the survey here. Survey closes Friday 13 December 2013.
PVOYT Seasonal Campaigns
The Roast Collection: 1 – 30 June 2013
Nothing brings people together like a hearty roast. For the month of June, Melbourne Food and Wine celebrates The Roast Collection: a theme designed to further reinforce Put Victoria On Your Table during winter through elements of the traditional roast.
Celebrate rare breeds or heirloom vegetables, create a shared table feast by an open fire and resurrect the lost arts of traditional gravy, apple, bread or mint sauce. Create cracker crackling or the perfect roast potato dish, celebrate the sides with cauliflower au gratin, tomato and onion pie or minted peas. Or highlight the ultimate winter couple, reds and roasts.
SUBMISSIONS FOR THE ROAST COLLECTION ARE NOW CLOSED
The Spring Graze: 1 – 30 September 2013
During September The Spring Graze campaign invites industry and consumers alike to celebrate everything that is new again. Victorian restaurants, wineries and producers are encouraged to draw on a bounty of new-season Victorian produce to celebrate the Put Victoria On Your Table philosophy and the sweetness that comes with the emergence of Spring.
Spring is the season when lamb is at its most tender, so interpret this sweet, plump meat in your own delicious guise, whether that be Greek, Italian, Turkish, French or another style. Incorporate fresh cheeses made from the first flush of spring milk into your event or take your celebrations al fresco in the form of a spring picnic.
SUBMISSIONS FOR THE SPRING GRAZE ARE NOW CLOSED.
