Theatre of Ideas - Community - SOLD OUT

Session One is all about our communities, the place food has in building them and bringing them together, and the people working to make them better.

Meet our presenters:

Ron Finley (USA) – a creative phenomenon: a gangsta horticulturalist, with a strong vision for community gardening and changing culture. Nicknamed the “Gangsta Gardener”, Ron’s belief that gardens build communities has blossomed into a quest to change how we eat.

Monique Fiso (NZ) – founder of pop-up dinner series Hiakai giving Māori cuisine a platform and celebrating New Zealand’s rich ecological diversity through food.

Michael Meredith (NZ) – one of New Zealand's most celebrated chefs, Michael is the once chef/owner of fine diner Merediths. He is the co-founder of food charity Eat My Lunch which supplies school lunches to children in NZ schools.

Stephen Harris (UK) - Punk rocker, turned history teacher, turned financial professional, turned proprietor-chef grew up a few miles from the Sportsman, his acclaimed pub-turned-restaurant on Britain's Kent Coast. Rather than distance himself from his surroundings and fare, Harris immersed himself in them. By remaining on his home turf, he turned the Sportsman into the UK's #1 restaurant.

Bronwen & Francis Percival (UK) - cheese experts and food writers, the Percivals are tireless 'real cheese' advocates. Bronwen, a cheese buyer for London's Neal's Yard Dairy, works to encourage collaboration between cheese makers and the scientific community. Together they founded and host the London Gastronomy Seminars, a lecture series dedicated to the technical side of food and making it fun
