5 to Try – the Ice Cream Scoop

Feeling defeated by this summer heat?

Suffering ourselves, we decided to put together a list of ice cream and gelato joints to try as the temperature rises, so that you can be properly equipped to battle against the heatwaves.

Pidapipo Windsor and Carlton
Fancy a quick trip to Italy to escape the heat? Pidapipo can take you further with each spoonful, with flavours like Mojito or Watermelon to suit the summer weather, or if you’re feeling adventurous, try our pick, Fresh Mint and White Chocolate, for a sweet yet refreshing treat.

Gelato Messina Fitzroy, Richmond, Windsor
Venture out of the CBD with Gelato Messina, with locations in Fitzroy, Richmond and Windsor. Try the Coconut & Lychee to cool down or grab a few scoops of Blood Orange or Lemon sorbets. Our favourite treat-yourself flavour is the Molto Bueno, which combines hazelnut gelato with white chocolate fudge and wafers for a reintroduction to our childhood favourites. 

Pagoto GelatoOakleigh
With a surrounding of Greek inspiration, Pagoto Gelato in Oakleigh offers a cold treat to cool down this summer, with flavours like Macadamia & Honey Crunch or Passionfruit Cheesecake to enjoy, or a selection of waffles for a more fulfilling option. Our pick is the coconut & lime sorbet for the perfect blend of sweet and sour to help battle this summer heat.

Moevenpick QV Shopping Centre
Pass through QV Shopping Centre and indulge in Movenpick ice cream for a taste of Swiss art. One of the highly-recommended flavours is the Swiss Chocolate, with a classic richness enhanced by shavings of Maracaibo cocoa to take you from Melbourne to a chocolate paradise.

Nitro Lab Glen Waverley, CBD
For gelato with a twist, venture to Nitro Lab, located on Bourke Street CBD or Glen Waverley. With options like Belgian Chocolate and Strawberries & Cream, it is hard to go wrong with Nitro Lab, however our favourite is the French Vanilla. To amp things up, add a syringe filled with chocolate, caramel, coffee or strawberry to a burst of saucy goodness.
