As we draw closer to our program release and tickets going on sale 21 November, we wanted to share some of the Festival 2015 secrets to whet your appetite.
Long-time favourite Bank of Melbourne World’s Longest Lunch (27 February) will once again kick off the festivities, this time weaving its way through Fitzroy Gardens with a menu designed by chef stars Shane Delia (Maha, Melbourne) and Adriano Zumbo (Adriano Zumbo Pâtissier, Melbourne).
By now you would have heard that Dan Barber, pioneering chef of Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York, will make his first visit to Australia to present at Theatre of Ideas: In Conversation with Dan Barber. Tickets to his event are on sale now and are selling fast, so get booking!
Langham Melbourne MasterClass will bring together some of the world’s most inspiring chefs for a weekend of memory-making tastings (7 – 8 March). Ruth Rogers from the iconic River Café (London, UK) will join nose-to-tail champion Jamie Bissonnette (Coppa, Boston & Toro, Boston and New York, USA ) and many more trailblazing chefs to share the secrets and stories behind their culinary craft.
New to MasterClass 2015, The Essentials is a series of practical classes with Australia’s most innovative chefs teaching you how to do one thing exceptionally well. Covering topics as diverse as super salads with Matt Wilkinson (Pope Joan, Melbourne), to pickles and fermentation with Benjamin Cooper (Chin Chin, Kong BBQ, Melbourne) these $50 sessions are sure to sell out fast.
Three hallmark wine events will unite at Melbourne Town Hall over the first weekend of the Festival, 28 February – 1 March. You’ll have the chance to taste and learn about biodynamic wines from across the world at Return to Terroir poured by the winemakers themselves; think outside the box when it comes to food and wine matching at Acqua Panna Perfect Match; and join discussions on what makes a great wine, truly great at Acqua Panna Global Wine Experience.
