Ahead of announcing the full Langham Melbourne MasterClass program and chef and wine presenter line-up, we share a sneak peek of the Festival’s theme and a few of the stars joining us in March 2013.
At Festival 2013 we’re going back to our foodie roots and celebrating and reconnecting with the source – earth.
Drawing on this theme we’re excited to announce Earth MasterClass, following on from last year’s sell-out Fire MasterClass. It’s a unique outdoor, roaming event for a lucky 150 guests with interactive workshops that will explore the elements and focus on all things earth: preparation, growing and cooking.
The first three chefs announced from the line-up are:
Ed Kenney (TOWN restaurant, Honolulu, Hawaii) – Ed will share his love for the Hawaiian imu, an underground pit oven traditionally used to cook food over many hours.
Ben Shewry (Attica, Melbourne) – Ben will demonstrate the hangi method of cooking as he draws from his childhood spent on the rugged west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.
Massimo Spigaroli (Antica Corte Pallavicina, Parma, Italy) - world renowned for his Culatello di Zibello, Massimo will be showcasing a regional recipe of guinea hen wrapped in culatello and baked in clay.
The event will be held at CERES on Friday 8 March and culminates with a spectacular dinner feast under the stars.
