From working for a stonemason company in London, to constructing a 200kg chocolate Easter bunny for luxury department store Harrods, Alessandro Urilli has had a fascinating, yet somewhat unconventional journey to becoming an artisan pastry chef.
Italian baker Alessandro will head up the new Bakery and Mill in Central Pier, Docklands – the only bakery in Melbourne to mill its own flour.
The mill, custom designed and installed at Central Pier, allows Alessandro to create his bespoke menu items from scratch. Whether people are out cycling or enjoying a leisurely stroll, they can now pick up their bread fresh from the oven.
Opening next month, the bakery features a menu of breads, pastries and cakes.
You can enjoy Alessandro’s creations at The Urban Coffee Farm & Brew Bar, 1 – 17 March. Drop by for a bite to eat and espresso from some of Melbourne’s best baristas.
