Melbourne tips from Franck Moreau

Your must-visit café for the best coffee?
The European. It’s the perfect place to start the day and I feel like I’m back in France.

Favourite place to enjoy a glass of wine on a warm Melbourne evening?
Gertrude Enoteca (Fitzroy), little wine bar with always something interesting by the glass.

Favourite restaurant for a memorable and ‘Melbourne’ dining experience?
Cutler & Co. Best dining experience by far.

Where do you meet friends for a quick bite?
Golden Fields in St Kilda. It’s fun with plenty of small dishes to share! The lobster roll is so good!

Where do you go for great pub grub?
Middle Park Hotel.

Picking up a bottle for BYO, your go-to bottle shop when you’re in town?
Prince Wine Store with no hesitation!

You have one day to discover Melbourne. Where do you go? What do you eat and drink?
I will start with breakfast at Cumulus, visit the National Gallery of Victoria, and have a wander on the shopping street.  Quick stop at MoVida for a sherry and tapas, followed by lunch at France Soir (steak frites with béarnaise, tarte tatin with a nice bottle of Burgundy!).
Then go to Cooks for Books (best book shop in Melbourne), stop by Gertrude Enoteca for quick afternoon drink (next door of the book shop) before taking the tram to St Kilda for a quick walk and a dessert at Golden Fields.
Check out the taster discovery of the City Wine Shop, go to Gerald’s Bar for pre-dinner drinks, then dinner at Flower Drum (pecking duck two ways and meat pearl) followed by an after dinner cocktail at Black Pearl!
Time for bed now…!
