Chef and farmer Michael Stadtländer is known for his dedication to local produce and sustainable farming.
Michael lives off 100 acres of farm land in Ontario, Canada, where he grows and raises his own produce for the farm’s 12 seater restaurant. This month he is celebrating with fellow culinary activists after conglomerate Highland Companies withdrew their application to build a quarry in the Melancthon Township of Ontario, Canada.
Stadtländer led the Canadian Chefs’ Congress to campaign against the quarry to preserve the local food and water quality. In October 2012 they partnered with the David Suzuki Foundation to hold SoupStock, an event staged on a potato farm drawing tens of thousands to protest and raise awareness.
Last month the community were delighted to hear the proposal had been withdrawn.
