Koko Black are celebrating spring with a new menu. That means all new reasons to indulge, which frankly, we’re pretty happy about. With the help of the chocolate experts at Koko Black, we’ve done some research on (ie eaten our way through) the decadent new additions and have pulled together a guide to pairing sophisticated desserts with delicious hot chocolates. It was a tough job but someone had to do it.
Black Forest Gateau and the Classic Belgian Hot Chocolate
The centrepiece of the new menu, this gateau is serious – 73% dark chocolate mousse and centre of sour cherry jelly on a base of rich chocolate sponge with whipped vanilla ganache. With chocolate, a good rule is ‘the more the merrier’ so the classic Belgian Hot Chocolate is the perfect match.
Apple & Tonka Gateau and the Cinnamon Hot Chocolate
This little red delight is perfect for spring. A crisp apple mousse on a fluffy honey sponge filled with crunchy caramelised apples and topped with a velvety tonka bean crémeaux. The addition of a cinnamon spiked hot chocolate can only be a good thing.
Chocolate & Hazelnut Gateau and the Hazelnut Hot Chocolate
For lovers of the classics, a rich flourless chocolate brownie with layers of buttery hazelnut and vanilla crémeaux is perfect with a sweet hazelnut hot chocolate. Hazelnuts make everything better.
Caramel Delice and the Mocha Hot Chocolate
This might actually be heaven on a plate. A luscious caramelised milk chocolate mousse, crisp chocolate crust and a centre of salted caramel and creamy white chocolate. The rich and chocolatey flavour of the Mocha hot chocolate only makes it sweeter.
For something a little lighter, there is also a selection of roasted hazelnuts, almonds and macadamias coated in milk or dark chocolate, which are the perfect snack to enjoy with your hot chocolate (there is no such thing as too much chocolate).
