Events that won't break the budget

A price-conscious budget and a love for food and wine don't always mix well, but the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival lets you have it both ways. Whether you're looking for a taste of Victoria's greatest wine regions or you want to try your hand at the art of cheese-making, you can enjoy the festival without breaking the bank with these events around the $50 mark or less.

Twilight Tastings and Workshop Series, $27

The magnificent All Saints Estate becomes a sunset tasting room for of all the greatness coming from Victoria’s north east region. Learn about the arts of cheese- and pasta-making, muscat blending and fermentation as you gain a delicious insight into one of Victoria’s prominent food and wine producing regions. 

Taste of the Great Ocean Road, $58

The perfect day trip along the Great Ocean Road just got better. Join a winery tour of Provenance Wines, followed by a tasting paired with local charcuterie. You'll get the chance to pick the brains of winemakers from this stunning region, as they provide their insights into the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula. It all takes place in a beautiful bluestone building at Provenance Wines.

Baringo’s Twilight Gintastic, $53

Macedon’s community of food, wine and spirits makers come together for a celebration of all things local,  featurnig gin by Animus Distillery, wines by Mount Towrong and barbecue bites from $10. Baringo Food & Wine Co will bring the party with pop-up bars and live entertainment all night, against the backdrop of Mount Macedon. 

Rhythm and Booze, free

Get a taste of old-school southern hospitality at Echuca’s American Hotel. The team will put on an all-American barbecue bash, with local craft breweries and offset smokers bringing a taste of the Old South to Victoria’s deep north. Bartenders will mix cocktails using small-batch bourbon while the DJ spins nothing but RnB all day.

A Spirited Peninsula, $58

Mornington Peninsula’s craft spirit community come together in the name of spirit appreciation at this interactive event. Try the wares of seven top-shelf Peninsula distilleries as the makers pour tastings of their finest and discuss the art of distilling. Food trucks, cocktails and live entertainment will ramp up the fun.
