Five events for cocktail aficionados

Can’t go to a bar without ordering a cocktail? Try top-notch stirred, shaken and built drinks at one of these events happening during the 2019 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. From the avant-garde to the local, cocktails are king at dinners, tastings, parties and more. Which will you choose?

Ryan Clift at Osteria Ilaria

Singapore’s Tippling Club is known for its out-there mixology. Get a taste a little closer to home at this Global Dining Series event, where international chefs team up with local heroes. In this case, chef Ryan Clift will reunite with old Melbourne friend Andreas Papadakis (Osteria Ilaria), reliving their Vue de Monde days and coming together for a one-off dinner that dives into Tippling Club’s notable cocktails paired with food. The Global Dining Series is supported by Lavazza.

Healesville Crawl

Our renowned Crawl ‘n’ Bite series hits regional Victoria in 2019, with an afternoon of venue-hopping around the spots of Healesville. Kick off with a light lunch and award-winning wines at industrial-chic Giant Steps, followed by a Mac Forbes wine-tasting at the intimate Graceburn Wine Room and an interactive session of gin tasting, cocktails and chocolate at Four Pillars distillery.

All the Chickens supported by Hennessy

Canadian-born Matt Abergel is the chef behind breakout Hong Kong restaurants Yardbird and Ronin. He will be joined by a team of Australia’s finest to create a feast of chicken dishes from around the globe. Throughout the evening, bespoke Hennessy cocktails crafted in collaboration with Belles Hot Chicken’s Morgan McGlone will be served. This event is happening at The House of Food and Wine.

Made From Gin

Four Pillars takes a nose-to-tail philosophy to distilling, incorporating the by-products of its craft gins into new and delicious creations. Stimulate your mind and your senses at this session where the team explain how their botanicals are feeding their mate’s free-range pigs, how stillage becomes moonshine cheese and more. You’ll also get to taste Four Pillars gins matched to Made From Gin food creations.

Rosio Sanchez at Mamasita

Agave, mezcal, tequila and more are on the menu at this very special dinner by Copenhagen’s Rosio Sanchez and the crew at Melbourne’s Mamasita. Sanchez earned her stripes as a pastry chef at WD-50 and Noma before opening her celebrated taqueria Hija Sanchez and, more recently, new restaurant Sanchez. Get to know a little more about Mexico’s vast universe of agave spirits at this Mexican feast and cocktail banquet as part of the Global Dining Series, supported by Lavazza.
