There’s no doubt that the scent of freshly baked bread is one of life's simple pleasures.
This year, artisan bread will be the rising star of the Festival as we spread the tempting aromas of freshly baked goodies throughout the heart of the city from our hub – the Festival Artisan Bakery & Bar.
For the fourth year running, the blank canvas of Queensbridge Square will be completely transformed, inspired by the Festival’s ever-changing theme.
This year we’re shining a light on the artisan bakers that Melbourne is renowned for by inviting bakers from home and across the globe to come together under one extraordinary roof.
This inviting natural space will be flushed with up-cycled timbers and extend out into a mini slice of paradise designed by Plant-scaper Paul Hyland from Glasshaus and inspired by the >1m2 Garden concept. The lush garden will cleverly demonstrate that it’s possible to grow an abundance of fresh food at home, even in a small space.
A rotating team of top local and international bakers will be in residence each day, headed up by resident baker Tim Beylie, and complemented by a line-up of top baristas representing our city’s rich coffee culture. Check out the Daily coffee and goods for details.
Open night and day, the wholesome heart of the Festival will be the perfect place to meet friends from dawn till dusk. Enjoy an ever-changing selection of temptations straight from the stone-floor oven, up-skill your baking knowledge at one of our workshops, or relax at the end of the day with a glass of local wine at the bar.
Open for 17 days, make sure you drop by and join us in celebrating the humble artisan loaf.
