  • Goldfields

As well as its vibrant gold rush history, the Goldfields region has a rich history of food, wine, art and culture.

Victoria's Gold Rush of the 1850s left us with handsome historic buildings, Victorian landscaped parks, botanic gardens and heritage streetscapes. Gold also founded several stately art galleries, where Australian and European masters now hang on their walls.

New waves of young chefs, attracted to the beautiful towns with their tight lanes and old buildings, have transformed them into dining destinations - a phenomenon described as "The Food Rush". Cooking with the region's great lamb and beef, Australia's best goats' cheese and supple fruits makes their job a joy.

Together with superb textural whites, some serious reds, and apple and pear cider, today's Goldfields celebrates the wealth of its produce.
