It had been a while between celebrations in Melbourne. But for one night in September, Ben Shewry and The Avalanches and their awesome support act Soju Gang, decided to spread music, love and joy with a live-streamed virtual house party for the city.
Thousands of households across Victoria and around the world joined the Attica chef and the ground-breaking electronic music duo, dressing up, decorating their lounge-rooms, making great food and drink and getting down in lockdown to celebrate the spirit of our city.
A Party for Melbourne was free and everyone was invited. But it was for one night only.
But there’s good news.
Thanks to the magic of the internet, you can still tap into the good times. Whether you were there on the night and you want to relive the adventure, or whether it’ll be your first time partying for Melbourne, Ben and the Attica team’s How to Party videos and recipes are sure to bring the vibe. Whether it’s ideas for drinks and recipes for party snacks (including the mighty three-chip fairy bread), or some radical (but radically accessible!) plans for turning your living room into a disco, Ben has made sure your virtual house party will go off. (We think it makes a pretty good grounds for a picnic, too.)
Dive in, dress up, cue the set from The Avalanches (hit the Soundcloud link below) and Party for Melbourne.
We promise we'll only send you things you want to read.
