Footscray. Eating and drinking capital of the west. A culinary calling card in a city with a reputation for dining excellence. Where to begin, then?

How about at natural-wine enthusiasts Bar Thyme for terrine, fish crudo and vegetarian croquettes, plus a glass-and-a-half of something delicious, natural and Victorian?

From there, we'll shuffle down to the Ethiopian restaurant Melburnians routinely refer to as their favourite, the mighty Ras Dashen, for an individually plated spread of Ethiopian stews served on its tart national bread, injera, plus an Ethiopian lager and a taste of its pleasantly hop-forward mead, tej.

Finally, we'll head over to Ms Sue and tie it all up with a cocktail and a little savoury something from the restaurant's celebrated pan-Asian menu. Glory to Footscray!
