Straits and South Asian flavour dialled to the max.
Rishi Naleendra shot through the ranks of the famously tough kitchens of Tetsuya’s and Yellow in Sydney to take Singapore by storm with the opening of Cheek by Jowl. Having won a Michelin star with the restaurant, he stepped things up with the 2019 opening of Cloudstreet, with his friend and colleague Gareth Burnett. Pulling together Rishi's experience in Australia and his Sri Lankan heritage, Cloudstreet has become one of the city’s most talked-about eateries and most sought-after bookings.
Chef Khanh Nguyen honed his skills at Sydney establishments Cirrus Dining, Bentley, Noma Australia, Mr Wong, Bécasse, and Red Lantern before moving to Melbourne in 2018 to take the reins at the much-acclaimed Sunda. Blending modern Southeast Asian cuisine with native Australian ingredients, Khanh and Rishi’s dishes will make for a full-flavoured evening of playful creativity.
Brace yourself for one of the most exciting collaborations from two chefs known for their ingenuity in reinterpreting Southeast Asian, Sri Lankan and native Australian ingredients. Diners will be treated to a degustation menu of exotic, punchy courses, an interplay between the two chefs, starting with an extensive grazing menu of snacks – perhaps the most interesting part – where the chefs showcase their creative prowess. The menu includes matching alcoholic beverages with wines from Cullen Wines.
"For those wondering if Cloudstreet were a more expensive rehash of Cheek by Jowl, it isn't. ...Cloudstreet is a more refined, heartfelt, bolder - even storied - articulation of Naleendra's dreams. One that needs to be experienced to be understood." - Bibik Gourmand
"With this sense of his personal identity finally being written in his food, Naleendra has created a truly special brand of cuisine." - Tatler
