Light Up the Night - SOLD OUT

Take in four venues and a kaleidoscope of great eating and drinking at one address in a progressive dinner like no other.

Join a spirited group of like-minded food and drink lovers in exploring the best 80 Collins has to offer after dark.

The new 80 Collins precinct is a world of great eating and imbibing all on the one block, and we’d like to give you a personal introduction to the very best of it. In Light Up the Night we’re leading a walking tour of the precinct, stopping in to get to know four of its flagship venues, the people behind them and – perhaps the best part – getting a taste of the action. The evenings are hosted by MFWF hosts, Cam Smith of Triple R’s Eat It program, food and travel writer Sofia Levin and sommelier and wine educator Matt Skinner.

The night kicks off at the bar of Melbourne’s newest boutique hotel, Next, to investigate the wonders of La Madonna, its restaurant and bar, taking in the atmosphere with a dish of kingfish crudo and a glass of Victorian wine. From there we’ll wander down to Handpicked Cellar Door for a taste of the latest from the cellar’s premium collection, paired with charcuterie and cheese.

Farmer’s Daughters is the next stop, where the team welcomes us with their favourite seasonal Gippsland produce on show in the form of an Eaglehawk Creek pork and leek pie produced by chef Alejandro Saravia and paired with Gippsland wine.

To close out the night in illuminated 80 Collins style, we’ll slip up the stairs to Nick & Nora’s to make the most of the golden-era setting with an exceptionally fancy dessert cocktail, Café Noir, which sports a saffron, tonka and vanilla mousse that’s super-chilled with liquid nitrogen to create a frozen cap. All that’s left is for you to crack through the top and enjoy the goods.

“This is one fancy cocktail,” the Nick & Nora’s guys say, and they’re not kidding. A fitting end to a fantastic night in the city.

6pm-8.30pm - Hosted by Cam Smith
