On your marks: get ready for a first look at one of the most exciting openings of 2021 in Melbourne, Robata, a restaurant where the Japanese art of charcoal grilling will be front and centre.
Stephen Clark, chef at San Telmo Argentinian steakhouse in Meyers Place, is no stranger to the grill. But now he’s stepping outside the box, exploring the revered methods of cooking on the robatayaki grill that hails from Japan.
On 15 March, ahead of Robata’s opening, you get to enjoy Clark’s skill with the grill alongside sake pairings from certified Sake Master, Andre Bishop, previously of Kumo Izakaya.
With 25 years of experience promoting sake and Japanese beverages, Bishop is recognised as Australia’s leading authority on sake, who has shared his passion with countless others with the aim of encouraging more Australians to discover the joys of sake and Japanese culture in general.
With Stephen handling the flavours from the grill and Andre in charge of the sake, this is set to be an evening like no other.
