Photo: Nobu sashimi is now available to go on Friday and Saturday nights

Updating you on the latest and greatest in Melbourne’s takeaway offers.

This week is about giving back, with Mother’s Day on Sunday 10 May and a whole lot of creative ways to make her feel special. We can’t think of a better gift than some seriously awesome Victorian food and drink delivered to mum’s door. Check out our round-up of all the handmade pasta, cocktails and wine, bacon and eggs, flowers and fine-dining that you can purchase from restaurants and other local businesses to make her Sunday feel special, even if you’re apart.

Keep an eye on these newcomers too – perhaps Mum would just like a surprise takeaway order dropped at her door whether that’s on Sunday, Saturday night or an unnamed night in the not too distant future.

The miso cod is back. At least on Friday and Saturday evenings, when the Nobu signature plus a selection of sashimi, snacks and hot dishes are ready to be brought home. Plus there are wagyu tacos, chicken wings with the house Matsuhisa ranch sauce, and bottles of Piper-Heidsieck to seal the deal.

Fri-Sat 5pm-8pm, pick up only, Crown Towers valet desk, 8 Whiteman St, Southbank (access via Queensbridge Street driveway). Order via phone (03) 9292 5777 .

Autumn sounds might tasty in the Faye kitchen. Jerusalem artichoke and raclette are the stars in a savoury galette, black pudding brings heft to agnolotti swimming in smoked mushroom broth, while pumpkin, radicchio and hazelnut are tossed through farfalle made with sourdough. This little restaurant in East Brunswick has lost none of its ambition in the transition to takeaway. Get your fill – and don’t skimp on the excellent bread.

Dinner Wed-Sun. Delivery within a two-kilometre radius, Wed-Thurs 6pm-9.30pm, Fri-Sat noon-9.30pm, no delivery Sun. Pick up Wed-Thurs 5pm-11pm, Fri-Sat noon-11pm, Sun noon-6pm. Shop 1, 22-30 Lygon St, Brunswick East. Order online, by phone (03) 9943 3050 or by SMS 0422 565 347.

Team Lagoon has returned with a streamlined menu that’s all about that heat-at-home freshness. The new offer sees the crew shift focus from Chinatown to what they’ve called Flavour Town, a menu that crisscrosses Asia with stops in Tokyo for Japanese potato salad, Malaysia (or should that be Indonesia?) for rendang, Bangkok for green curry and Sichuan province for dan dan noodles. There are plenty of goods for your pantry, too. Jars of house XO or spiced salt, rolled rice noodles and Butterfly Factory milk from Gippsand are just the start.

Pick up Thurs-Sun noon-6pm, 263 Lygon St, Carlton. Order the day before you’d like to collect. Orders placed Mon-Wed to be collected on Thursday. Order online.

Anchovy’s weekend lunch

“Grilled morsels and pickles in a baguette” is the modest description for Anchovy’s the lunch menu that débuted on the weekend and sold out before noon on the first day. The queue of fans was there for Thi Le’s excellent take on khao jee pate, Laos’s answer to Vietnam’s banh mi. It’s an extension of her love affair with Laos that has transformed Anchovy’s dinner menu and, if last weekend is anything to go by, the charcoal-grilled Laotian sausage, ox tongue, pork neck or pine mushrooms smooshed into a flaky-fluffy bun are worth setting an alarm for.

Sat-Sun 10.30am-2pm (or until sold out), pick up only, 338 Bridge Rd, Richmond. No pre-orders. anchovy.net.au

Sushi boxes to go have been available at Kisumé for about a month now. But as of this week you can throw in a bowl of comfort, too. Donburi in the flavours of chicken karaage, pork katsu, beef yakiniku and more are now available along with miso soup and sukiyaki udon. In a nutshell: all the things you love to warm up with.

Daily 5pm-7pm, pre-order and pick up only, 175 Flinders La, Melbourne. Order at kisume.com.au

Ging Thai

You know how you had all those recipes you were going to master in lockdown and, well, they haven’t really eventuated? Ging Thai is here to help you take the bull by the horns. Cut out the hard work of sourcing and chopping ingredients for some of Thailand’s best-loved dishes by ordering one of the restaurant’s DIY kits. There’s a massaman curry, a yellow vegetable curry and a green curry of chicken, as well as satays and salads, roti, rice and, yes, booze for the chef (an essential ingredient to any cooking project).

Fri-Sat 5pm-8pm, pick up only, Crown Towers valet desk, 8 Whiteman St, Southbank (access via Queensbridge Street driveway). Order via phone (03) 9292 5777.

Attica x Lune DAVE collaboration

Don’t ask us why a giant cake-shaped croissant, glazed in finger-lime syrup, decorated with native Australian fruit and drizzled with custard and cream, is going by the name of Dave. It’s one of many mysteries surrounding the Attica x Lune collaboration that you’ve probably seen clues to in a series of bizarre (and hilarious) videos posted over the last week. You can now unravel the key mystery – what Dave actually tastes like – for yourself as the “pudding pastry” for six hits the Attica takeaway menu in all its glory. Let’s hope it’s the first of more collabs between these two highly adventurous Melbourne venues.

Add DAVE to your Attica At Home order, $70 per cake, Tues-Sat, 5pm-9pm. Order online.
