Position Title: Social Media Lead

About Food + Drink Victoria

Food + Drink Victoria is the non-profit organisation behind the internationally acclaimed Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. F+DV is also an advocating body, staging year-round initiatives and campaigns for the advancement of the Victorian food and drink trade. We celebrate excellence in food and drink, bringing the best of the world to Victoria and the best of Victorian food and drink to the world.

Position purpose

Posts compelling content daily and manages social campaigns that encourage dialogue and audience growth both online and at F+DV events.

Key responsibilities 

  • Shoots, edits and publishes at least three videos per week suitable for F+DV/MFWF channels
  • Publishes seven to 10 posts per week, scaling up to 14 to 25 posts per week in the lead-up to MFWF and during festival, sharing existing content and creating original content as necessary
  • Collaborates with the Head of Content, Marketing Director and Creative Director on all social media strategy for the company, especially in the creation, management and execution of social media plans for F+DV/MFWF campaigns
  • Grows and diversifies the company’s audience of fans and followers across digital channels
  • Ensures F+DV is utilising social media channels that can help grow the company’s online community
  • Uses data to inform content and social media strategy
  • Monitors social media discussions and responds on behalf of the company
  • Acts as a voice for the company, producing content that threads together its priorities
  • Evaluates F+DV’s current social media and advises on improved strategy and content
  • Assists in the production of photo and video assets
  • Strategises the dissemination of long and short-lead content across all social media platforms
  • Works closely with marketing and partnerships teams to meet quantifiable growth goals in thefollowing areas through social media campaigns: email capture, ticket sales, social following
  • Monitors the impact of social media programs through increased dialogue, click-throughs, ticket sales/event attendance and varied conversion rates
  • Analyses, reviews and reports on effectiveness of campaigns
  • Creates strategies for soft leads/email capture
  • Translates metrics to actual insights gained from social media monitoring to help inform marketing, content, partnerships, events and other key F+DV departments
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience producing social-first/lo-fi video is essential
  • You will be required to voice and front videos on a frequent basis
  • Experience with social media content production and scheduling platforms such as CapCut, Figma and Later is desirable
  • An understanding of marketing strategies, as well as a keen understanding of the Victorian food and drink community is required
  • Strong written communication skills are important for this role.
  • The successful applicant will be accurate in their spelling, grammar and punctuation and demonstrate a keen eye for detail
  • Three years of experience in social media, marketing, web and digital or related fields is Desirable
  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field is desirable
  • Demonstrated success in growing social media audiences and developing and delivering content strategies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Festival environment and handle multiple projects, adjusting priorities as required while not compromising attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise, build and maintain relationships with people from all sectors and industries
  • Intellectual and cultural curiosity and sensitivity
  • Innovative, creative and lateral thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Literate in MS Office and Google Workspace
