Raph Rashid, aka the Snacc Boss, aka the founder of Beatbox Kitchen, Juanita Peaches and All Day Donuts, is about to flip burgers for 24 hours straight – all in the name of an excellent cause.
The Flip-a-Thon kicks off this Saturday 29 August from 11am at the his Brunswick diner Juanita Peaches, with 100 per cent of profits from the marathon flip fest going to Youth Support + Advocacy Service (YSAS), Victoria’s leading youth health, drug and alcohol support organisation.
And Rashid has pulled together a 24-hour menu to match. It’s nothing but bangers from both Beatbox Kitchen and Juanita Peaches, including the mighty Raph burger – a cheesy cheeseburger loaded with gouda and the Boss’s very own secret stereo sauce – plus Juanita Peaches’ stacked double cheeseburger and the whole-portobello shroom burger. The greatest hits from All Day Donuts will also be available all day and all night long.
Early risers on the Sunday, meanwhile, are treated to the very limited, very delicious basghetti jaffle. Which, for the uninitiated, is a completely enclosed toastie steaming with spaghetti inside.
The Snacc Boss is excited to put the spatula to work. “YSAS does incredible work supporting young people across Victoria,” he says. “And if spending 24 hours behind the grill can help raise money and awareness for that, it’s well worth it. Whether people stop by for lunch, dinner or a late-night burger, every visit helps make a real difference. Hopefully we can fill the place and raise as much money as possible.”
Lunch, dinner or late-night shenanigans, punters can expect a whole host of familiar names taking tickets behind the counter and requests behind the decks. Star chef Tom Sarafian and Danny & Mikey (the DJ project from seminal Aussie garage rockers Eddy Current Suppression Ring) lead the line-up behind the wheels of steel, while MFWF’s very own Pat Nourse, MasterChef’s Sofia Levin and celebrated author Julia Busuttil Nishimura, among others, will all make an appearance at the register.
Donations of $25 or more on the day score a run on the wheel. It’s full of prizes from PEP, Supernormal, A1 Bakery, Meatsmith and Australian indie fashion label PAM. And if you can’t make it on the day, you can get involved online right here.
