Food + Wine Victoria announced today that Pat Nourse, one of Australia’s most respected food journalists, has joined the organisation in the role of Creative Director.
Pat Nourse comes to Food + Wine Victoria following 14 years at Gourmet Traveller, where he was the magazine’s managing editor and the editor of its national restaurant guide. Nourse is one of Australia’s most accomplished food communicators. He has written about food and reviewed restaurants in Victoria and around Australia for nearly 20 years for the likes of The Age, Good Food, The Sydney Morning Herald, Time Out, Herald-Sun, Sunday Life, Harper’s Bazaar, Belle, and the in-flight magazines for Qantas and Virgin Australia as well as international publications such as Travel + Leisure, Afar, Saveur, Lucky Peach, Fool and Lonely Planet.
Nourse has been the chair of voting for Australia and Oceania for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants since 2006, and was involved with bringing the 50 Best to Melbourne in 2017. He has also been a member of Tourism Australia’s Food and Wine Tourism Advisory Panel.
Food + Wine Victoria’s Chief Executive Officer Anthea Loucas Bosha, said: “Pat is an extraordinary talent - a brilliant writer, a razor-sharp curator and has his finger on the pulse of the food scene not only this country but around the world.”
Nourse commences in the role on 4 March and will report to Loucas Bosha.
“Having worked with the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival as presenter and host over the last decade, and having been an avid festival-goer for years before that, I’ve seen first-hand as it has grown into one of the biggest dates on the culinary calendar,” said Nourse. “This role gives me the opportunity to bring the best of the food and wine world to Victoria and bring the best of Victorian food and wine to the world across the whole year, and share their stories. It’s a dream job.”
Food + Wine Victoria is best known as the organiser behind the annual Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. The festival, now in its 27th year, encompasses more than 250 events across the state and is attended by more than 250,000 patrons each year. This year Food + Wine Victoria also launches an international agri-food business event, Global Table.
