Melbourne is a city that is historically coffee obsessed. It’s the morning ritual that spreads tempting aromas through the city streets from tiny take-out windows to vast repurposed industrial spaces and much-loved suburban gems.

It’s no easy task to pick just five places to caffeinate when there is so many options to choose from, so we turned to roaster Elika Rowell from Square One Coffee Roasters for her expert advice.

A new addition to Market Lane’s ever-growing coffee empire, with the new space feeling elegant yet warm from the gorgeous blue tiling to the exceptionally crafted bar. The coffee is amazing as always from any of their stores.

A tiny espresso bar tacked onto the side of Melbourne’s Coffee Supreme Roastery, they hold weekly cupping where you feel comfortable whether it’s your first try or you’re a seasoned professional.
