What if we told you we’d found a way to do some good for a great charitable cause, drink fine Victorian wine, chow down on good food and hang out with the inimitable Max Allen all without leaving the comfort of your own home, anywhere in Australia? That dream is a reality, friends, and it is called Taste for Change.
It’s a masterclass-disguised-as-a-party hosted online by Max Allen, MFWF Legend, leading wine writer and author, and irascible host with the most. You sign up, you receive a “premium grazing hamper” for two loaded with wine, cheese and other good things, from the likes of Ladro, Yarra Valley Dairy, Stone and Crow, Oliver Lane and Grange Butchers, as well as the chance to meet the people who made the wine you're drinking.
"It’s like a good old-fashioned telethon - but with great wine, cider and non-alc fizz," says Allen. "I’ll be in the 'studio' at St Marys House of Welcome, crossing live to Victoria’s own food and drink celebs, bakers and growers, artisan makers and a host of fermenters around the state, while you get to play along by eating and drinking their delicious produce on the other side of your screen."
The ticket price also gives you plus entry to the silent auction. All proceeds go to help St Mary’s House of Welcome’s Welcome Steps program for rough sleepers and people experiencing chronic homelessness.
Taste for Change, $220 for two, 7pm-8.30pm, Friday 29 October; tickets on sale till 18 October from trybooking.com/BTESV
