The Greatest of the Mall is back! After a huge first year in 2024, we’re excited to bring back this unique celebration of Melbourne mall culture and food-court favourites, giving them a 2025 twist with Raph Rashid, founder of Beatbox Burger, Taco Truck and All Day Donuts, a passionate faster-food professional and noted chronicler of urban and suburban culture, and his band of merry mallrats.

Over three weeks in July, Raph and his food-loving friends will be pulling up at Box Hill Central, Broadmeadows Central, Bayside Centre, The Glen and Roxburgh Village, bringing the good times and a whole lot of tasty free things to the snacking epicentres of Victoria.

Raph and his crew have been working their way through each centre in search of the Greatest of the Mall. It was an all-out snack survey leaving no bain marie unexplored, no cake cabinet unexamined, and boy, have they returned with some seriously snackable food court fare. We’re looking at a cumin beef puff with spicy ketchup sauce, Dubai chocolate remixed with rocky road, a prawn toast and taco collab we didn’t know we needed, a cheesecake-filled baklava doughnut, and a steamed and fried chicken curry bun that proves we truly can have the best of both worlds.

And we need your help eating them. For free.

Raph and his food court friends will be popping up at each mall, kicking off Saturday 5 July, giving away thousands of one-of-a-kind snacks to hungry mallgoers. There’s plenty of free and exclusive merch up for grabs too – take a spin of the snack wheel for your shot at the goods.
