The people have spoken, and the results are in for Vic’s Picks, the state government-backed competition celebrating great Victorian businesses dishing out the very best bánh mì, potato cake and pie.
Springvale’s Bun Bun Bakery took out the gong for the state’s favourite bánh mì, with a special mention going out to their pork rolls and the textural symphony hidden within – and, of course, to the punters lining up out the door and along Springvale Road rain, hail or shine.
Further afield, meanwhile, Colac’s Hulms Bakery continue an outstanding 75-year streak serving up some of the west’s best, now being inducted into the Vic’s Picks annals with the award for Victoria’s favourite pie.
And Camms Road Fish and Chips in Cranbourne has been awarded Victoria’s favourite potato cake, not least for the lashings of chicken salt, but for their dedicated potato cake menu sporting no less than 20 flavours – each featuring a golden, crunchy batter on the outside and a cloud-like fluffiness inside that the locals can’t get enough of.
