What are the Shed X Talks?
Fans of the festival will be familiar with MasterClass and the Theatre of Ideas. This year, you get both for the bargain price of absolutely nothing. That’s right, all our talks at Shed X are completely free in 2020.
Come down to Queen Victoria Market on any weekend of the festival and swing by Shed X (that’s Shed C to regular market-goers) to see some of your favourite chefs in action. There’s Karen Martini sharing her secrets to an easy yet impressive crab pasta, Nothing Fancy author Alison Roman destressing the ritual of entertaining, and Matt Preston and Sam Pang showing you a real-time ragu, capturing every splash of oil and stir of the pot along the way. It all kicks off on Saturday 21 March.
And if you just happen to be at the market, browsing the apples and the onions, take a detour past the Main Stage – you won’t regret it.
Hang on, so the talks are absolutely free?
You got it. Just show up to the session you want to see and take a seat. There are no bookings or tickets required. Better yet, stick around for a while and you could find a new favourite chef who rocks your world.
How long are the talks?
Every talk runs for half an hour. These are short, sharp sessions designed so you’ll walk away with an ingenious new way to think about lamb or a fresh perspective on Australia’s food scene today.
When are they happening?
Every weekend of Melbourne Food & Wine Festival (19-29 March), we’ll be at the market with our guest chefs taking the stage.
